Professor John Hamlon earned his MA in theology from the University of San Francisco and did doctoral work in systematic theology at the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley. He was the associate director of the St. Ignatius Institute, University of San Francisco, from 1994 to 2001. Prior to that, he was the associate director of the Family Life Bureau, St. Cloud Diocese, and the program director for national and international conferences on NFP, marriage, and family at St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN. He’s the author of A Call to Families: A Commentary and Study Guide for Familiaris Consortio.
Recently he served as an administrator at the University of Sacramento and taught the following courses “Introduction to the Catholic Catechism (Parts I and III),” “The Philosophy and Theology of Marriage, Family, and the Human Person: A Catholic Vision,” “Foundations of Catholicism,” and “Christian Ethics.” Currently he conducts classes on John Paul II’s Theology of the Body for parishes and groups within the Diocese. He regularly gives talks to engaged couples who are participating in the Diocesan Pre-Cana program.
